                              Buying a Puppy

When you buy a puppy from us, you are getting a life long commitment to help and support you in your addition to your family.  We always welcome updates and pictures but we leave the amount of involvement up to each individual person.  You are not obligated to contact us again however, we are here if you want to.

Before a puppy leaves our place, we make sure that he is completely healthy as determined by a complete puppy vet check.  They check eyes, ears, heart, knees, teeth, lungs, coat, etc. to make sure they are in top condition.  We make up our own personalized health record which has a picture of your puppy and date of birth and areas to keep track of a lifetime of health checks, immunizations, and preventative medicine records.  The puppies receive their first shots - the vet record will show the immunization date for the first shots, which shots were given, and when the next shots are due.  The puppies have been dewormed several times before they leave and we routinely apply Revolution (please see section on Preventative Medicine) - this prevents the puppy for one month from acquiring external parasites such as ticks, fleas, lice, & mites.

We give a written receipt that shows our Business Number (GST number) - GST is included in the prices shown. We go over our Health Contract and Genetic Guarantee with you and make sure that the areas that the vet wants stressed are well understood so you can protect your puppy to the best of your ability.  The health contract is shown below so you can look it over.

We also have a personalized booklet that goes with each puppy.  In it, it has pictures and descriptions of the puppy's family, tips on training, information on preventative medicine and immunizations, puppy behaviours, what you need to know bringing home a puppy and many websites I like to visit for help and information.

The puppy also takes his blankie and teddy home to help in the transition period - a few familiar smells from home to help the homesickness.  We send a bag of puppy food along so that the puppy can stay on the same food or, if you choose to change his food, it can be gradually changed in order to avoid or reduce the indigestion of changing foods.

Any information, such as birth date, immunization dates, name of food, name of parents etc., is all written down on either the vet record, receipt or book (and sometimes in all three places).
